Though American musician Jonathan Wilson is by no means a newbie to the music scene, it is only in recent years that his work has begun to attract public attention, which is exciting news for us. Extremely exciting indeed. We’re talking world wide tours, collaborations with the likes of Jackson Browne and the Jayhawks and David Crosby and Graham Nash and best of all, the revival of 70s rock…(wearing the t-shirts isn’t enough).
Wilson’s latest album ‘Fanfare’, appropriately named given his new lauded status, is something of an epic. It steers well clear of nostalgia though as Wilson reshapes a familiar genre through clever, poetic songwriting and a sound so absorbing that it makes the pop tunes of the charts seem like mere child’s play, which, let’s be honest most of them are.
