Through the lens: Julien Coquentin’s ‘Early Sunday Morning’

France based photographer, Julien Coquentin’s series of black and white photographs taken one Sunday morning capture those eerie early hours when the world seems to pause and silence descends.  The use of shadow and snow are particularly effective in his work, giving his photographs the air of an old fashioned film reel with sharpened edges.

To view the full series, including my favourite photograph (birds flying against a white background) reminding me oddly of Hitchcock’s The Birds, head over to Coquentin’s website: http://www.juliencoquentin.com. It’s also well worth checking out Coquentin’s ‘Strange Rain’ photographs which capture the city through a rain smeared lens…

Good work all round.
