Sigur Ros are well known for their beautifully ambient, evocative music and bizzare invented language in which they sing, making them a band which is quite literally like no other. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Icelandic band have chosen to do something a little different with their music videos for their new album ‘Valtari’. Aptly named ‘The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment’, the trio have given twelve lesser-known film makers a small budget with which to create a response to their seventeen newly released songs. The film makers, including the likes of Ramin Bahrani and John Cameron Mitchell, have been allowed complete freedom in the project – hence the element of ‘mystery’. I have to warn you, some of the videos are a little bizarre, but the combination of film and ethereal sound makes for great watching.
